The Hood River-White Salmon Bridge Authority is pursuing another round of federal funding to proactively address rising costs on the project to replace the Hood River-White Salmon Bridge.

The biological opinion concluded that the project is not likely to jeopardize species listed on the Endangered Species Act, and that construction is not likely to destroy or harm these species’ habitats.

The Hood River-White Salmon Bridge Replacement Project will receive an additional $8 million in federal funding after Congress approved two separate requests late last week.

Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. scored the highest of the three firms that responded to the October request for proposals for a design-build firm.

The award means the project has more than half of the funding needed, marking a significant milestone toward realizing a 2029 opening date for the new bridge.

Members of the public are invited to join a live conversation with bridge commissioners on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

The project is moving into the design phase for the new bridge and we’re seeking members for an advisory committee to help guide this work.
